Cub Scouting is all about encouraging girls and boys to make friends, be helpful to others and to do their best! We aim to teach children that doing their best can be a fun and rewarding experience through powerful learning objectives and outdoor experiences.
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
The Scout Oath
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
The Scout Law
A Scout is:
Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent
Scout Vespers
Softly falls the light of day,
As our campfire fades away.
Silently each Scout should ask,
“Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept - my honor bright?
Can I guilt-less sleep tonight?
Have I done and have I dared,
Everything to Be Prepared?”
The Scouting Program is organized into groups, called dens, of boys and girls who are in the same grade and age. Within these dens, Scouts will learn new skills and interests, practice sportsmanship and good citizenship, and learn to do their best, not just for themselves, but for their dens as well.
Recognizing one's achievement is important to everyone. Scout advancement provides a sense of personal achievement as each scout earns belt loops towards their rank badge. Both den leaders and family members work with scouts on activities and projects.
Family involvement is important to our Pack. Whether a Scout lives with one or two parents, a foster, grand or even great-grand parent, their family is an important part of Cub Scouting. Parents and adult family members provide leadership and support for each Scout and help ensure they have a good experience in the program.
Cub Scouts participate in a large array of activities, including games, projects, skits, stunts, songs, outdoor activities, trips, and service projects. Besides being fun, these activities offer opportunities for growth, achievement, and family involvement.
Cub Scouting focuses on the home and neighborhood. It helps scouts strengthen connections to their local communities, which in turn supports their growth and development.
The Cub Scout uniform serves a dual purpose. It demonstrates that a scout is a part of a team and shows individual achievement. Wearing the uniform to meetings and activities also encourages a clean appearance and good behavior.
